Ebed-Melech University (EMU) is entering a transformative new season—one defined by growth, purpose, and a renewed commitment to global access. As a fully online, faith-based institution, EMU is taking bold steps to rebuild, reevaluate, and realign its academic programs to better serve students worldwide, particularly those who have been historically underserved due to financial barriers.
A Mission-Driven Reset Rooted in Calling
Following a period of deep reflection and prayer, EMU leadership has initiated a comprehensive institutional realignment—one that brings the University back into full alignment with its foundational mission.
At the center of this shift is a powerful conviction: education should not be limited by financial capacity.
As Scripture reminds us:
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…” — Matthew 28:19
This mandate is not conditional. It does not say “go if they can afford it.” It is a call to disciple, teach, and serve—without limitation.
Ebed-Melech University is choosing to answer that call in a deeper way.
Rebuilding Academic Programs for Accessibility and Scale
As part of this reset, EMU is redesigning its academic delivery model to increase accessibility, efficiency, and scalability.
Beginning in the Fall term, degree programs will be:
- Structured as comprehensive program-based learning environments within Canvas
- Delivered in a self-paced format, while still offering an 8-week recommended progression
- Supported by faculty assigned at the discipline level, allowing for deeper engagement, mentorship, and consistent academic support
This model simplifies enrollment, accelerates student onboarding, and removes unnecessary barriers to completion.
Strengthening Academic Leadership and Operations
To support this new structure, Kevin Kemp, M.S., B.S., PhD(c), Provost & Vice President of Operations, will oversee university operations, ensuring that each academic division is fully supported and aligned with the institution’s mission.
In this role, he will work closely with Deans to:
- Strengthen program quality and consistency
- Provide operational support across disciplines
- Ensure faculty have the resources and structure needed to effectively serve students
This leadership alignment ensures that EMU’s academic growth is both intentional and well-supported.
Expanding U.S. Authorization and Recruitment
As EMU grows globally, it is also strengthening its domestic presence.
Dr. Lisa Mariconda, DBA, Vice President and EMU Alumna, is leading efforts to expand authorization and recruitment initiatives across the United States. Her work focuses on strengthening institutional pathways, supporting compliance efforts, and increasing access for students seeking faith-based education within the U.S.
Advancing Scholarships and Philanthropic Support
Access remains central to EMU’s mission.
Dr. Sarah Elliott, D.H.L. (Hon.), Vice President of Philanthropy & Operations, is leading efforts to expand scholarship opportunities and cultivate new donor relationships through the Ebed-Melech Foundation.
Her leadership is focused on:
- Increasing funding for students with financial need
- Building sustainable donor partnerships
- Expanding scholarship programs to meet growing global demand
Through these efforts, EMU is building a model where mission and sustainability can coexist, ensuring that more students have access to education rooted in purpose.
A Global Vision Without Barriers
With increasing enrollment interest from regions such as Africa and beyond, EMU is actively working to create pathways for students worldwide to access education grounded in faith, leadership, and service.
Through flexible tuition models, international admissions teams, and a restructured academic system, the University is pursuing a future where no serious student is turned away due to lack of financial resources.
Answering the Greater Mandate
This strategic realignment is more than an operational shift—it is a return to purpose.
There is no greater calling than to go, to teach, and to disciple. Ebed-Melech University is committed to ensuring that its programs reflect that calling, equipping students not only with knowledge, but with purpose and the ability to impact the world.
